We are currently seeking a new Parish Councillor to join us to make a difference to our community.
The Parish Council is made up of the Clerk who is the “Proper Officer to the Council” and seven volunteer Councillors who are elected every four years. We are currently six and need another volunteer to join the council.
Our responsibilities include:
- Liaising with Norfolk County Council on Highways matters – potholes, drains, etc.
- Speed awareness data and analysis from our SAM2 device which is shared with the police
- A statutory consultee on planning applications (decisions are made by Breckland Council)
- Ensuring our footpaths, hedges and ditches are cut and maintained
- The War Memorial and Green
- The Bus Shelter and Village Noticeboard
- Blo’ Norton Road Community Garden
- Recycling bank at The White Horse
- Litter picking
- South Lopham Community Facebook page
- Financial matters and policies that govern the way the parish council operate.
We meet every two months on the 2nd Tuesday at 7pm in the Lophams Village Hall.
